In Australia, health psychology is incorporated into accredited psychology training at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, although there are currently few dedicated professional health psychology programs offered at Australian universities. Following completion of an accredited psychology undergraduate training, it is possible to undertake an approved postgraduate qualification in health psychology. The APS College of Health Psychologists promotes research, education and professional practice in the field and operates within the Australian Psychological Society (APS). Health psychology is recognised by the Psychology Board of Australia as one of nine endorsed areas of psychological practice. Psychologists who complete an approved postgraduate qualification and registrar program may obtain an area of practice endorsement in health psychology.

Australia does not have a standalone national organisation dedicated solely to health psychology. Within the Australian Psychological Society (APS), the specialist professional group for health psychology is the APS College of Health Psychologists (https://psychology.org.au/about-us).
