LGBTQIA+ Research
Individuals who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, questioning, intersex, asexual, or hold other marginalized sexual or gender identities (LGBTQIA+) often experience notable health disparities due to complex social, cultural, structural, and political influences. Despite these challenges, research within health psychology and related fields have given limited attention to these groups, particularly beyond the context of gay, bisexual, and other men who have sex with men. To address this gap, successful roundtables were organized at the EHPS conference in 2023 and 2024 (for the published reports, see below), after which the organizers decided to establish this Special Interest Group (SIG). This SIG seeks to create a network for researchers dedicated to studying these underrepresented groups, enabling them to share ideas on funding, collaborate on proposals, exchange good/best practices, and disseminate job opportunities.
